Sophia Myers Benefit
Friends and family rallied together once again in support for seven-year-old Sophia Myers who is battling a rare brain tumor.
This time at a praise and worship gathering at the Ocean Springs Yacht Club. The event was put together to honor a request made by Sophia’s mother, Angel Myers.
She wanted a night full of prayer and worship to surround her daughter with the love of her friends and community members. St. Paul Methodist Church Associate Pastor MJ Kirby said, “A lot of people came together to make it happen. There are so many singers that have come together, clergy from across the entire Gulf Coast that have come together to make it happen. People working behind the scenes tiredly so it really has been a full community effort to bring to life Angel’s vision for an evening of prayer and praise for Sophia. Our high school community group decided that they wanted to do ‘Holy Hoops.’ It was a three-on-three basketball tournament and it really blew up big. A lot of the kids from the high school came that don’t necessarily come to our church and they raised $4,000 for Sophia.”
Sophia’s fight with her illness is still going on, but the entire Gulf Coast continues to pitch in and support her and her family.
