Sock Hop and an Open Cruise-In in VFW Post 2434

Throw on your poodle skirt and leather jacket. It’s time for a sock hop and the VFW Post 2434 in Biloxi is hosting.

The party kicks off at 7 tonight at VFW located at 1644 Pass Road. Several prizes are up for grabs with a costume and hula hoop contest on the agenda.

Special food for purchase and several drink specials are available.

Since the start of COVID, the VFW has been struggling financially. They are hoping that by having events like these, they can raise funds and show the public that they’re back in operation. VFW Post 2434 House Committee Chair Jim Strzalkowski said, “All of the VFW posts across the nation ended up closing because of orders from the VFW National. So, we were closed for a good four months, maybe even longer. That hurt us a lot financially. After that, when things reopened, the limited number of people coming back in to support us also continued to add to a slow growth of trying to build back up.”

They are also inviting all to cruise on over Saturday morning, starting at 9 a.m. There will be free entertainment and drinks and food for sale.
