Snowflakes in the Bay
When it’s 70 degree weather, it may be difficult finding snowflakes on the Coast during the holiday season.
Bay St. Louis is making that search easier. “Snowflakes in the Bay” is back again, lighting up the dark and the hearts of families looking for free holiday fun. Thirty three-foot-long snowflakes are hanging in the historic live oak trees around town. Snowflakes can be found at the library, along the beach in Waveland, and along Depot Way in Bay St. Louis.
The Hancock County Tourism Department says the illuminating snowflakes have a special meaning to the community. Myrna Green with Hancock County Tourism said, “We have gotten many, many phone calls saying ‘I want to plan a trip to Bay St. Louis’ and ‘When are the snowflakes going to be up? I want to bring my grandchildren to see the snowflakes.’ That makes it all worthwhile and that it’s something that people want to do year after year because it’s just so magical.”
The snowflakes also promote holiday events in Bay St. Louis. The city is gearing up for this Saturday’s big annual Snowflakes and Sugarplums Festival at 11 a.m.
