Small Fire at Ohr-O’Keefe
An electrical fire at the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art shuts down the facility until Saturday.
A little after seven this morning, Biloxi fire crews arrived on the scene to a fire in the main building of the museum. They found a small cooler on fire in the café area which caused smoke damage to the welcome center.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire relatively quickly. There were no injuries and no artifacts were damaged. The only loss was the cooler.
Museum Executive Director Kevin O’Brien tells News 25 this fire added to the rough week in Biloxi. “Our patron, Jerry O’Keefe, passed away and it was very, very major for us and this happening too. I’m hoping there’s not a number three thing happening, but it’s been tough. I’m just so glad no one was here when it happened and no one was hurt.”
“Our Love Affair with Baseball” Luncheon feature Dale Murphy will now be held tomorrow at the Saenger Theater at noon. Officials say the museum will reopen on Saturday.
