Slidell man charged in connection with shooting on bus; victim identified

A Slidell man is in jail, charged with murder in connection with the death of a man shot on a Greyhound bus passing through Jackson County.

Mississippi Bureau of Investigation arrested 26-year-old Rashaad Price on a charge of murder. He was booked into Jackson County jail about 3 a.m. No bond has been set.

According to MBI, the bus was between mile markers 57 and 61 in Jackson County about 11 p.m. on Sunday night when Price, fatally shot 25-year-old Jay Jackson of Decatur, Georgia.

Price then demanded that the driver stop the bus so he could leave. The driver dropped Price off on the interstate, then drove to the nearest exit and called 911. No other passengers were injured.

About 3 a.m. Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies saw Price running across the interstate and took the suspect into custody.

MBI is currently investigating this incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the local District Attorney’s office. Due to this
being an open investigation, no further comment can be made.
