Sixth annual Rock the Block
The sixth annual ‘Rock the Block’ had the IP Casino rocking for a night full of music, food, and fun.
‘Rock the Block’ benefits the Rock U 2 Foundation which helps disabled and underprivileged youth in South Mississippi have musical opportunities. There was a silent auction with things like signed guitars by Trace Adkins and Loretta Lynn.
The evening had special performances by Rock U 2 musicians as well as Nashville recording artist Southern Halo.
Southern Halo has a history with Rock U 2. Southern Halo said, “They took us under their wing and taught us a few lessons at the Rock U 2 Foundation. We played some shows with them and they even recorded some of our original songs, cover songs. They really do it all. They literally teach everything that has to do with music or the music industry if anybody is interested, especially children.”
Rock U 2 Foundation President Tim Almasha said, “As we’ve seen music being cut and other arts from the schools, it’s really important for kids to be able to have music in their lives and many families can’t afford that.”
This is the largest fundraiser for the Rock U 2 Foundation of the year. All proceeds going straight back to help them continue to help children express themselves along the Coast through music.
