Sixth Annual Bloody Sunday March in Selma, Alabama
Imagine taking the same footsteps as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. did back in 1965 at the iconic march in Selma, Alabama.
Over 50 Moss Point High School students and residents are making that dream a reality thanks to the Moss Point Visionary Circle’s sixth annual trip to the Bloody Sunday March. The group will walk across the Edmond Pettis Bridge and experience a real life history lesson outside of the classroom walls.
Moss Point High School junior Carey Sims said, “I wanna get my history. I wanna get other people’s perspective than what we’ve seen and what we know. I wanna get information from people who were there and people who heard about it. I wanna know everything. I wanna know the inside scoop about everything.”
A bus full of Moss Point students and residents will leave from the high school stadium’s parking lot around 6 a.m. on Sunday, March 6th. Even though spots on the bus are filled, organizers from Moss Point Visionary Circle invite the public to follow them on the drive to Selma.
