Sisterhood Conference brings hundreds to Biloxi
Almost one thousand sorority sisters have traveled in from across the states for a big weekend in Biloxi.
Sisters of Sigma Gamma Rho Incorporated filled the Beau Rivage kicking off the first night of the annual Sophisticated Southeastern Regional Conference. The 78th annual conference takes a strong focus on community service and draws in chapter members from Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina and even from the Virgin Islands.
This year’s theme is “unmasking the power of sisterhood.” Chapter Member Imogene Stubbs said, “This year we’re doing a project of reading. So, we’re going to donate 4400 books to two different school districts, Jefferson Davis and Moss Point. We stress education so we are a sisterhood of progress, greater service, greater progress.”
Nine hundred and 20 chapter members are registered for the conference that goes on until Sunday. Organizers expect a significant economic impact from the big event.
