Singing River Responds

Singing River Health System has filed its response to allegations of an ex parte meeting in the hospital’s state-retiree pension plan case. The health system has also challenged the state’s Supreme Court jurisdiction in the matter.
The recent filings read, in part, that “this court has no jurisdiction to hear this appeal or grant the relief requested.”
This is in response to an emergency motion filed by the plaintiff’s attorneys, Earl Denham and Harvey Barton, who represent more than 200 retirees in this case and who are asking that the current judge, Judge Hilburn, and several others be removed from the state’s case.
Singing River attorney Kelly Sessoms also denies that those in attendance at the January 12th meeting participated in a secret ex-parte meeting in regards to the state’s case.
