Singing River re-opens drive-thru COVID-19 testing center

With the omicron variant spike continuing to rise, the team at Singing River Health System decided to reopen a drive-thru COVID testing center.

The decision came after the team saw a steady increase in COVID testing in clinics as well as at-home tests becoming harder to find.

Testing numbers continue to grow, and today the MSDH reported a state record in positive cases with 7,079.

Today, the drive-thru center swab-tested a total of 560 people.

Hours of operation are 8 a.m. through 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is located next to the ABC Rental at 3399 Bienville Blvd in Ocean Springs. Singing River Health System Clinical Operations Manager Brett Burdine said, “It’s very important, especially as contagious as this new variant seems to be. This makes it a convenient option for our patients in our community to try and get tested. Instead of having to go to one of our clinics right now and exposing yourself with other patients in the waiting room, you can come off site to this place and get you a test.”

Mississippi’s total of COVID-19 cases is now 579,773 with 10,511 deaths.
