Singing River pension settlement approved

Singing River Health System’s pension settlement received approval from the U.S. District Court today.
More than $156 million must now be deposited into the retirement trust over the next 35 years, what experts say should fully compensate for the missed contributions over a five year span.
Jackson County has agreed to pay a total of $13.6 million to SRHS in nine installments when the settlement is approved. Singing River has agreed to pay $12,500 to divide among plaintiffs in two state court lawsuits.
