Singing River Health Systems Blood Drive

Ocean Springs, Miss (WXXV)- Blood donors in the Ocean Springs area had the opportunity to help save a life today at Singing River’s Ocean Springs Hospital.

The Singing River Health System is hosting a blood drive this week with the help of the Blood Center. The Blood Center is Singing River’s top blood provider.
If you are planning to give blood later this week, remember you must be at least 18 years old, weigh 110 pounds and also have a valid I.D.
The next opportunities to give blood are this Thursday from 7 am to 3 pm at the Pascagoula hospital, and this Friday from 7-am to 3-am at the singing river hospital in Gulfport.

Donor and recruiter representative, Julie Smith from the Blood Center says, “we want to give locally. We live here; we want to give here so we want to keep our supply up. Memorial Day is coming up in May. Things happen, we had the terrorist attacks in New Orleans in January and things happen before we know it and we don’t want to wait until something happens and then try to get it because the blood on the shelf is what saves lives.”

The Blood Center is also giving away gift cards for those who give blood.
