Singing River Health System to offer free breast and cervical cancer screenings
PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WXXV) – Early detection is crucial in the fight against cancer. Starting June 4, 2025, Singing River Cancer Center will offer free mammograms and pap smears for eligible women through the Mississippi Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (BCCP).
This initiative aims to remove financial barriers and expand access to life-saving cancer screenings, which help more women detect breast and cervical cancer early when treatment is most effective.
This program is made possible due to a sub-grant from the Mississippi Department of Health through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for the Mississippi BCCP. To be an eligible patient for the program, one must meet a few eligibility requirements
Having this program on the Mississippi Gulf Coast is impactful for many reasons, one being the expansion of access to necessary medical care for residents.
SRHS has been a service provider for many years, doing pap smears and diagnostic biopsies, and this free mammogram program is its first opportunity to become a rolling provider.
Enrollment visits are only available at the Pascagoula location. If women are interested in enrolling in the program, they can go to singingriverhealthsystem.com/BCCP or call 228-809-5669.
