Singing River Health System Hosts Blood Drives in Honor of Stroke Survivor Teresa Powell

Miss. Gulf Coast – Singing River Health System will host blood drives this December across all three hospital locations in honor of Teresa Powell, a dedicated employee of Singing River Gulfport’s Cafe and a stroke survivor whose resilience continues to inspire others.
Over her 20-year career, Teresa has served in various roles in the cafe, but her life changed in 2019 when she suffered her first stroke, leaving her with limited mobility.
She returned to work after months of recovery, only to face two more strokes in 2020 and 2023, each requiring extensive rehabilitation.
With care from Singing River’s rehabilitation, cardiology, and neurology teams, Teresa regained her ability to walk and continues to persevere, saying, “God gave me the strength, so I keep going.”
The blood drives will be held across all Singing River hospital locations in December.
To donate in honor of Teresa Powell, please visit SingingRiverHealthSystem.com/blood to schedule an appointment.
Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are honored first. Donors are encouraged to eat a meal beforehand and bring a valid driver’s license or identification to donate.
