Singing River Health System 2017 FYE Budget

Singing River Health System presented the 2017 fiscal year budget earlier today to the Jackson County Board of Supervisors.
According to CEO Kevin Holland, the health system reduced their operating expenses by about 15 percent while maintaining revenue, causing a profit in the budget.
Over the past two years, Singing River has increased their cash on hand by 53 days, sitting now at 73 days.
Even though the system is seeing improvements, Supervisor Randy Bosarge insisted on hearing a verbal statement from the representatives about the retirees’ pension payments. Holland said, “We are going to hit our pension payments. We’ve worked hard to come up with a schedule that not only allows us to continue our mission in the community, but we feel is sustainable going forward and we’ve made a strong commitment from our board of trustees and our leadership team to fund that pension and that’s what we’re going to do.”
The Jackson County Board of Supervisors want to meet with the financial advisors to go over final questions about the budget. They have until September to approve it.
