Singing River celebrates Donate Life Month
Singing River Health System is kicking off Donate Life Month with a celebration.
Pascagoula Singing River hosted ‘Gifts of Healing’ to celebrate the first Singing River wound care patient treated with birth tissue.
Women who have c-sections are able to donate their placenta to help treat unhealing wounds and burns.
If not donated, the placenta is considered medical waste.
You could donate life tomorrow as Singing River celebrates National Donate Life Month with an honor walk and organ and tissue donation drive. Telegen CEO David Hill said, “In the U.S. right now eight million patients per year deal with non-healing wounds. These are our seniors; these are our grandmas and our grandpas that are out there that are dealing with these… with diabetes and etcetera. So, to donate your placenta, to do any type of tissue donation through loss of a loved one… it impacts so many patients. ”
The event is at all three hospital locations in Gulfport, Ocean Springs, and Pascagoula on Thursday, April 6th. Attendees are encouraged to wear blue and green.
