Singing River Approves Contribution

The Singing River Board of Trustees voted to approve Jackson County’s $13 million contribution agreement.
In return, the hospital must hire a turnaround firm to bring Singing River to a more financially stable place. The deal also calls for those on the board of trustees to resign.
Kelly Sessoms, council for Singing River Health System, tells News 25 that trustees approved an agreement in regards to the pension lawsuit which must be carried out before the trustees will step down. “Those resignations will occur at a future point in time but the sequence of events is that the settlement agreement is to be approved and then the contribution agreement is executed by the president of the Jackson County Board of Supervisors, at which point the contribution agreement is executed and then those vacancies on the hospital board of trustees, those will occur.”
Due to a confidentiality order, Singing River did not reveal the contents of the pension lawsuit agreement that was approved.
