Simple Assault on a Police Officer Arrest – Kelvin Homes, Taro-Javier Robinson

On May 23, 2018 at approximately 12:38 a.m. Kelvin Lamont Holmes (25 years old, of Gulfport) and Taro-Javier Robinson (24 years old, of Gulfport) entered the Gulfport Police Department 24 hour lobby located at 2220 15th Street to inquire about the unrelated arrest of a relative. While inside of the Police Department Holmes became agitated and began to use loud vulgar language. Officers advised Holmes that he was under arrest for disorderly conduct and told Holmes to place his hands behind his back. Holmes did not comply at which time Officers attempted to arrest him. Holmes pulled away and a struggle occurred. During the struggle Holmes assaulted an Officer by trying to climb on top of him and hold him down. Robinson attempted to pull the Officer away to assist Holmes. Officers struggled with Robinson and Holmes until they were secured and arrested.
Homes and Robinson were initially charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Those charges were upgraded to felony Simple Assault on a Police Officer after further review. Warrants were obtained from Harrison County Justice Court Judge Brandon Ladner who set bond at $40,000 each.
Homes and Robinson were processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center.
