Significant Drop In Crime: Biloxi

The Biloxi Police Department definitely has a reason to celebrate.
Biloxi Mayor Andrew ‘Fofo’ Gilich highlighted the officers and their impressive statistics at Wednesday’s state of the city address.
In the past year burglaries are down by nine percent, robberies down by 29 percent, sexual assaults down by 46 percent, and aggravated assaults down by 48 percent.
Plus the three homicides which were committed in Biloxi were quickly solved by the Biloxi Police Department.

“The mayor has been an inspiration on a lot of that, he’s come up with several ideas that has worked out very well for us, and I’m sure he has some more things he wants to implement in the future so we’re looking forward to it…and just so glad our numbers are working the way they’re working and again that took a lot of work to get there a lot of support from the community to help us get there.”

According to Biloxi Police Chief John Miller…70 percent of the 120-thousand calls for service last year were officer-initiated.
Chief Miller credits proactive law enforcement for the decrease in crime.
