SI Resort CEO gives more details about potential project in D’Iberville
Yesterday, we told you the story about the potential Sports Illustrated Resort coming to the Coast. Today, we spoke with the resort’s CEO about the project and what else we can expect.
CEO Chris Schroeder tells News 25 this new resort will have attractions built for every person. He says one of the main attractions will be an 11-acre man-made beach called Blue Water Bay with crystal blue water and white sand.
Another attraction he told us about is a Sports Illustrated experience which will be located in the Sports Illustrated resort that features surf riding, rock climbing, zip lines, and more sports-related activities.
While Schroeder says talks are still going on, he hopes to begin construction at the beginning of 2023. “The Gulf Coast, we have some great partners down there. We had some tremendous response from the city of D’Iberville with the Gulf Coast area there in Biloxi and D’Iberville is one of the most popular destinations in the Gulf Coast region. We believe that – thanks to the number of visitors in the area – that there’s a need for more family-oriented active lifestyle for families, couples, etcetera, so the proximity and the visibility of I-10 on the whole area seems right for a project like this.”
Schroeder hopes to complete the project at the end of 2024.
