Shuckers to Play in Pensacola

The Shuckers are ready to play ball.
"We got a good team. We got a lot of young players, new pitchers, couple guys returning. I think we’re going to be pretty good”, said infielder Nick Ramirez.
The team flew right to Pensacola from their spring training in Arizona. Before they took the field this afternoon, they had to take care of some housekeeping, like getting their new gear.
"Today was a good thing; you know we got our new uniforms on, looking alright. I like the royal blue”, said pitcher Brooks Hall.
Tomorrow night, the Shuckers will face off against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos in their first ever game as an organization. Brooks Hall, who was out of last year’s Huntsville season due to an injury, will get the start.
"It’s pretty cool. It’ll be in a book somewhere, first game, so I just want it to go well."
Since construction on the stadium isn’t slated to be finished until June, tomorrow’s game will mark the beginning of a 55 game schedule on the road.
"It is what it is; you just got to make the best out of everything. I’m obviously just looking forward to getting to Biloxi and seeing what the stadium looks like."
Manager Carlos Subero tells News 25 while playing so many games away from home will be tough; the coaching staff is making it a priority to ensure their team is ready to perform.
"The main thing is not to use that as an excuse for performance and I think all of our kids are aware of that already. We talked about it. Just go out there and have fun…be able to develop and give 100 percent”, said Subero.
As for the game tomorrow, the Shuckers are hoping to see some Shucker gear out in the crowd.
