Shuckers team up with Loaves and Fishes to raise funds

For the remainder of the season, the Shuckers are teaming up with Loaves and Fishes to help the local nonprofit raise money for its building fund.

For over 37 years, Loaves and Fishes has been providing meals to the Biloxi community twice a day, four times a week.

At the end of the year, the nonprofit’s lease is up and they will not be able to renew it. In an effort to raise funds for a new home, the Shuckers have agreed to donate 10 percent of all concession sales run by Loaves and Fishes volunteers to the building fund. Loaves and Fishes Executive Director Leslie Ramon said, “We’ve got two stands for the home games. We’ve got 30 games left. We need about 20 volunteers for each one, but it’s an opportunity to make a lot of money. It’s good for us, it’s good for them. And we are super excited about it. We are at $63,000 right now. The organization has upped our goal because the price of property is outrageous right now. They would like to see us hit $500,000.”

Loaves and Fishes is looking for volunteers to work concessions at Shuckers games as soon as Tuesday. For a link to sign up to work, visit their Facebook page or call the Loaves and Fishes office at 228-264-1600.
