Shuckers in The Show: Catching up with Brewers outfielder Joey Wiemer
A little more recently, Joey Wiemer showing off the light tower power at Biloxi’s MGM Park where he quickly became a fan favorite for his five-tool prowess.
He was assigned to Triple-A Nashville out of spring training, but he never actually played a game for the Sounds this year. He’s been a big leaguer ever since, playing in 89 of the Brewers’ first 91 games with 12 home runs and 11 stolen bases at the All-Star Break.
Those 89 games already more than the 84 games he played for the Shuckers in 2022. “Yeah, it’s been an everyday process of adjustments and adapting to whatever the new day brings. three hits every day. Hitting in the Southern League there isn’t the easiest thing in the world, so that was big for me in terms of really learning to grow and knowing you’re not going to have three hits every day.”
Wiemer was a fourth-round pick out of Cincinnati in 2020.
