SHRS retirees given go-ahead in pension lawsuits

Circuit Court Judge Forest Johnson cleared the way for retirees to head to court over the Singing River pension plan.

The lawsuits began when Singing River Hospital announced in 2014 that the pension plan was underfunded by over $55 million.

The hospital settled a class action lawsuit but other lawsuits remain against accounting firm KPMG LLC and the retirement plan administrator TransAmerica Retirement Solutions LLC.

Both defendants asked the court to dismiss the claims against them on technical grounds, the court denying the motion and setting trials for December 5th, 2022.
