‘Shred Day’ at Keesler Federal
Happening in Gulfport Saturday, Keesler Federal will hold a community ‘Shred Day’ at its branch on Seaway Road.
The event is free to the public and each person may bring up to five bags of sensitive documents which the credit union will shred under controlled supervision.
This event comes as identity theft tops the list of complaints to the Federal Trade Commission by consumers nationwide.
Criminals often steal a person’s social security number or financial information to file a fake income tax return, make fraudulent purchases, open utility or wireless accounts, assume or open a bank account, obtain a loan or lease, or receive illegal government benefits.
The event starts at 9 a.m. and concludes at 1 p.m.
