Shopping for Mardi Gras outfits around the Gulf Coast
Wondering what to wear to the next Mardi Gras party or parade?
Mardi Gras is a time of balls, parades, and king cakes, but what about style? During festivities, people are encouraged to wear something in carnival colors: purple, green, and gold!
Wearing the colors of Mardi Gras will have you fit right in, however, some people like to dress up and go all out, creating their own personal look and style.
For everyone who loves feathers and sparkles, Love Ivy Boutique in Ocean Springs has you covered. Tori Hardwood, the business manager, tells News 25 glitter makes everything better and it is the perfect time of the year to over dress. “We have really explored the whole Mardi Gras theme. Like bought so much for this year, so you can really shine through with your personality through your Mardi Gras looks. We have something for everybody, whether you want a furry dress or you want a feathery top.”
For those who want a casual look, Fleurty Girl in Bay St. Louis has a variety of t-shirts and comfortable wear, along with all other things Mardi Gras. Fleurty Girl Ambassador Jennifer Shea said, “This is our Christmas at Fleurty Girl. We are all Mardi Gras, all celebration. We have door hangers, t-shirts for men and women, we have boutique wear. We have children’s shirts. We have earrings, sunglasses, and we’re all about the glitter and sequins.”
Some of us love a good reason to dress up and a good outfit is a must, but don’t forget to accessorize. When you look good, you feel good. “Loren is such a wonderful, wonderful ambassador of the happy. I named her that a long time ago because she’s really good and in tune to what’s on trend and what people are wanting and what our customers are wanting. She really works hard to make sure we have what people want in our store.”
Both shops can be found on Facebook and other social media outlets.
