Shootout at Gun Shop in Pearl River County
A father and son are dead after an argument broke out Saturday afternoon at the McLemore Gun Store on Mississippi 43.
Authorities say two customers, 52-year-old Audy McCool and his son, 29-year-old Michael McCool, were picking up a firearm that had been repaired and an argument about a $25 fee ensued. Guns were drawn and store owner 44-year-old Jason McLemore and his son, 17-year-old Jacob McLemore, were shot and killed.
The McCool’s were taken to the ICU. The son is stable and no word yet on the father’s condition.
Pearl River County resident John Seal said, “First I heard that the dude came into the shop and he was arguing with the man’s wife over the $25 repair charge and then the wife called her husband and he came out there and the subject left the building and came back with his son and they pulled their guns on the shop owner and he pulled his gun on them and then shots rang out.”
Determining who pulled out a gun first is still under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time. The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department will be investigating the evidence and statements on this tragedy in the weeks to come.
