Shooting on White Harbor Road in Long Beach

A Long Beach man is in the hospital and his estranged wife is behind bars charged with two counts of aggravated assault domestic violence, after an argument turned violent on White Harbor Road in Long Beach this morning.
News 25’s Gina Tomlinson was on the scene shortly after and spoke to eyewitnesses about this shooting.
Before a gunshot even rung out in the air, neighbors say that even their dog could sense the argument across the street was getting out of hand. Jeff Andrews says when he walked outside to check things out, he saw his neighbor grabbing his four-year-old daughter. “Literally threw her in the truck. The mother comes running out, they’re screaming. You can tell it was a domestic argument.”
This was an argument that spun out of control. “By the time I get to the corner of the house, you hear the gunshot. I look, he’s hit the ground,” said Andrews
Andrews says the man was shot in the back. The woman he was arguing with, who police have identified as his estranged wife 28-year-old Catherine D. McCutchan, fled the scene. “She grabbed the child and took off running,” said Andrews
Andrews and his wife administered first aid, applying pressure to the man’s bullet wound after calling 9-1-1. Police arrived on the scene not long after.
The man was rushed to the hospital. Police soon managed to catch up with his alleged shooter and take her into custody. “Long Beach really is a good community, things happen. Things happen all over, we have to just take it as it is,” said Long Beach Police Chief Wayne McDowell.
Andrews has lived on this same road in three separate houses. He says the community is normally safe. He says his wife, Kay, was the first one at the victim’s side. “When my wife got there, she noticed he had a Proverbs wristband on. Her first question was ‘Sir, what’s your relationship with Jesus?’ He said he was a believer.”
Andrews said, “We are praying for this young man in hopes that he recovers, praying for the whole family actually.”
