Shooting at Oasis Lounge in West Point, MS

Sheriff deputies are investigating a mass shooting at a nightclub in West Point in the northeastern part of the state.

The shooting happened early Sunday morning inside Club Oasis.

Investigators say a 20-year-old woman was killed and about a dozen other people were wounded.

Some of the victims are in serious condition. Several hundred people were believed inside the club when the shooting began.

Authorities believe multiple shooters were involved in the attack. A security guard chased one suspected shooter across a four-lane highway before the attacker disappeared into a wooded area.

The sheriff’s department in Clay County says it is in the early stages of its investigation.

Deputies are now in the process of tracking down witnesses and victims to get a better understanding of what happened.
