Ship Island to Resume Ferry Service on Saturday
Sun, sand, and Ship Island, what more could you ask for? That’s what the folks at Ship Island Excursions are saying ahead of the continuation of their popular ferry service to the barrier island.
This year marks more than 98 years that the Skrmetta family has transported visitors to and from the island, with service to Ship Island set to resume on Saturday, March 16.
“I’ve been doing this for quite a while, I love it. It’s incredible to have a family business that’s almost 100 years old.”
Ship Island Excursion workers are preparing the island for visitors to arrive on Saturday. Additionally, the company will offer a variety of cruise options until the Fall.
“We had a great season last year with great weather. The beaches look excellent on the island. We had a few winter storms we were worried about, maybe some damage to the dock but it didn’t occur. The beaches on the Gulf side look really pretty right now, they’re really wide and full of shells.”
