Ship Island to reopen soon
As the winter weather clears a couple of months from now, Ship Island Excursions will make a comeback.
Ship Island Excursions stopped its ferry service all the way back in 2020 during the rise of COVID. In late summer, an onslaught of hurricanes damaged the Ship Island Pier which contractors are repairing right now.
If you visit the island, there are plenty of seashells to be collected after the long hiatus.
A word of warning if you plan to go, wear sunscreen as the island offers little in the way of shade. Ship Island Excursions Captain William Buckley said, “We’re excited to get back out there, get people back out there — there’s been a lot of interest and demand to get back out there, ride with us out to the island. The island is one island now — they did the big restoration project to fill in what was called Camille cut, so people are excited to see that.”
Guests are encouraged to reserve their tickets ahead of time online at msshipisland.com.
