Sheriff’s deputy shot in Stone County
STONE COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- A Stone County sheriff’s deputy is recovering after being shot while trying to serve a warrant Sunday morning.
The shooting happened at a home on Taylor Road in Wiggins. While trying to serve the warrant, the suspect started firing at deputies, hitting one in the shoulder.
The suspect was also shot in the leg as deputies returned fire.
Both the deputy and suspect were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
As with all officer or deputy-involved shootings in Mississippi, MBI is handling the investigation into this shooting.
