Shelter pets receive toys for Christmas
Pets at the Humane Society of South Mississippi received some early Christmas presents from 107.1 the Monkey.
Valerie Kattz and James Steele held a toy donation drive over the weekend and asked for at least three hundred toys to be donated to the shelter. Today, they distributed those toys and were able to collect over 400 toys, just enough for each fur baby to have a little something to play with for Christmas.
Kattz and Steele tell News 25 it was a great feeling to donate gifts to homeless pets and give them a little wag in their tails. “I wanted to cry. Every time I see these dogs come up or the kitty cats playing with their new toys. It’s amazing. Our goal was three hundred toys so to go above that and collect 450 was pretty amazing.” “To actually see the smiles on their faces was amazing. It’s beautiful. We love it. We couldn’t have done it without the help of our listeners.”
The Humane Society of South Mississippi is also having adoption specials this week. All adoptions are 50 percent off through December 23rd.
