The Shed Steak Showdown

Hundreds of the country’s best grill masters descended on the Coast this Saturday for a competition with high stakes.

Around 200 teams competed in the Shed Steak Showdown on the grounds of the Shed in Ocean Springs.

The event was sanctioned by the Steak Cookoff Association and featured multiple steak categories along with special categories for ribs, turkey, and Bloody Mary’s that went through a rigorous judging process.

With nearly $40,000 in cash and prizes awarded, grill masters worked through the day in a competitive, but fun atmosphere. Brad Orrison with the Shed BBQ and Blues Joint said, “We had over 30 kid competitors that are grilling. It’s a family atmosphere and people out here, they’re fierce competitors. They are here to win. So, there’s a certain amount of professionalism from the barbecue world, that really, it’s your chance to see it.”
