The Shed BBQ wins national award
The Shed is a well-known barbecue and blues joint, but the South Mississippi restaurant is far from singing the blues.
“The Shed platter, so all seven meats all in one. Pretty much killed it.” Michael George is more than 900 miles away from his home in Chicago.
The Shed has been featured on national TV shows and has landed a number of world championship awards for their famous barbecue during the past 18 years they’ve been in business. The Shed serves up a little something for every type of palate, even those of the four legged variety as evidenced by Michael George’s traveling companion.
So it should come as no surprise that the Shed BBQ and Blues Joint has been named the best BBQ in the state of Mississippi by the Food Network. Owner Brad Orrison said, “Getting an accomplishment like this is not only great for us, but also for everybody that works here, and our customers and also our community. You know, the more tourists we have, the better off we all are, right?”
If being named best BBQ in Mississippi wasn’t enough, Southern Living Magazine ranked the Shed number one on their Great American Bucket List, but what makes this South Mississippi treasure standout among others? “I think what makes the Shed so special is it’s such a genuine place.”
