Severe weather moves through the south
Despite possessing the proper conditions for tornadic development, the severe weather we experienced this afternoon moved through without doing much damage.
Apart from a few downed power lines and some minor debris, the most significant damage was done at Centennial Plaza where an archway that was installed for the upcoming Bicentennial celebration was brought down onto a car by strong winds.
Harrison County Emergency Agency Director Rupert Lacy tells News 25 we could see more inclement weather in our area as soon as Sunday night. “The timing is going to be the key factor here. Sunday, going into Sunday night, going into Monday morning, we’re looking at another system, coming west to east. This one already is showing some of the good trademarks with the way that our moisture flow is and all that, that with on top of what we had today, we might start talking about some flooding areas, some river flooding and all of that. This next system looks like it’s going to be more of a rainmaker on us.”
