Service of Remembrance at MGCCC Perkinston Campus

For so many, the holiday season is the happiest time of the year and full of Christmas cheer but we often forget that the holidays aren’t exactly a joyful time for everyone.
That’s why Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s funeral service students put on their annual Service of Remembrance in honor of those lost this year. Students placed ornaments written with their loved ones name on a Christmas tree as part of the ceremony that welcomed guest speaker Ron C. Regan Jr., the Perkinston Choir, and prayer.
MGCCC Director of Funeral Service Program Bill Harvey said, “This is a real rough time on a lot of people. We’re here as a community to try to help them get through that and the acknowledgement of a death is the beginning of healing.”
The ceremony also serves as an opportunity for the funeral students to experience a memorial service.
