Sentenced to 18 years for DUI causing death

A Harrison County resident is sentenced to 18 years for felony DUI causing death.

Thirty-eight year-old Natalie Duvernay pled guilty yesterday. She was sentenced to 25 years with 18 to serve in custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

The conviction stems from a car wreck at the intersection of Highway 90 and Church Street in Pass Christian just before 9 p.m. April 21st, 2017.

The defendant was reportedly driving 25 miles over the speed limit with three times the legal limit of alcohol in her system when she struck a vehicle driven by the victim, 30-year-old Iris Franklin.

Franklin leaves behind four children.
