Seniors celebrate Mardi Gras in Gulfport
Talk about a party! The Mardi Gras Mambo for seniors was a hit!
Seniors danced the day away as the DJ blared music at the Lyman Community Center. If they weren’t hitting the dance floor, you could catch these guests enjoying snacks from various vendors and volunteers, dressing up at the photo booth, or voting for king and queen.
The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department made jambalaya for lunch while the seniors adorned themselves with beads.
This event is usually put on by the City of Gulfport, but when the Harrison County Senior Resources Agency heard it might not happen, they stepped up to the plate. Senior Resources Executive Director Janey Meaut said, “We put it on because every year they look forward to doing this. Gulfport has put it on for years, so this is one event that they all come up from all over – the counties, some of them from other counties. And they look forward to this. This is an event that they all can get together and just have a good time.”
