Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith honors Jimmy Buffett
Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith today paid tribute to Mississippi native and legendary musician Jimmy Buffett, who died September 1st.
Hyde-Smith delivered the tribute in a Senate floor speech: “Buffett, a Pascagoula native who grew up in Mobile, made his name playing and singing about the places he knew best: the Mississippi Coast, the Alabama Coast, and the Florida Coast.”
Hyde-Smith said his songs “transported us to sandy beaches, where the stresses of life fade away and he reminded us that sometimes, we all need to kick back, relax, and take a moment to savor the simple pleasures of life. As Jimmy would put it, it’s 5 o’clock somewhere.”
Billboard announced today that Jimmy Buffett’s ‘Margaritaville’ is back on the charts this week, coming in at number 38.
