Sen. Hyde Smith co-signing Americans Act Legislation

Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith announced today she is co-sponsoring legislation to reinstate military members who refused to take COVID vaccines.

The Americans Act Legislation was introduced by Senator Ted Cruz of Texas. It would not only restore discharged service members, but also require congressional approval before the Department of Defense could impose another vaccine mandate.

In addition, the legislation would restore military separated solely for refusing the vaccine and credit them with the time of separation toward retirement pay and restore lost rank, pay, and benefits.

The bill also would change any general discharge to honorable for those who decide not to rejoin the military and expunge any adverse actions taken against service members who refused the vaccine.
