Sen. Brice Wiggins Supports Project Lead the Way
During his speech at the Project Lead the Way breakfast Thursday morning, Wiggins touched on how Mississippi has the worst Medicaid program with the most recipients, and that crime can be linked back to a lack of education and unemployment. Wiggins believes if south Mississippi keeps investing in the education of its children, it could lead to change in the entire state.
Wiggins says, "We have to prepare our children to get a job, to succeed in life, and education is the foundation. Because you know whether we like it or not, health insurance comes from our job, okay, and whether we like it or not, we’re last and have the worst Medicaid rate in the nation, but if we build them with a foundation of education, they can get a job and not rely on the government to support them."
Senator Wiggins challenges Jackson County to be a successful example for the rest of the state and to help others realize the importance of education.
