Security Cameras Installed on Ocean Springs Bridge
Walkers and runners who frequent the Biloxi Bay Bridge will now have a little more peace of mind. Security cameras have officially been installed on the Ocean Springs side of the bridge.
The installation of the cameras comes after a woman was sexually assaulted on the bridge back in 2014. A local group, Women Against Violence Everywhere, raised the $10,000 needed to purchase the two cameras.
Bridge walkers tell News 25 they’re happy the cameras have been installed. Joyce Mosley said, “They give you more security, just more peace of mind knowing that if anything happens that it’s recorded and that would even cause more people to walk the bridge.”
Jan Rudnicki said, “I think men and women might look at it differently and a lot of women would feel maybe a little more safe if there was a security camera, especially at night.”
“It’s a wonderful thing. I appreciate the donation that the people did to get the cameras out here,” said Reaner Arnold.
One camera is pointed toward the steps where walkers enter the pathway and the other camera is pointed from the pathway to the crest of the bridge.
