Second pediatric flu death reported in Mississippi

The Mississippi State Department of Health reports the second confirmed pediatric flu death for the 2017-2018 season.
Officials say this death occurred in central Mississippi. State Epidemiologist Dr. Byers said influenza activity has decreased from the previous week, but still remains higher than this time last year in Mississippi with reports of widespread activity.
There have been 84 pediatric flu deaths reported this season according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
