Second arrest made in Monday drive-by shooting on Dedeaux Road; third suspect at-large
Gulfport Police have made a second arrest in a drive-by shooting Monday at a Dedeaux Road store.
22-year-old Jayquarius Keyes was booked into the Harrison County jail just after midnight Wednesday morning. Police say he turned himself in. He is charged with aggravated assault and drive-by shooting. His bond is set at $1 million.
On Tuesday, police arrested 21-year-old Jaevon Kenderick Weems and charged him with one count of drive-by shooting and aggravated assault. He was taken to Harrison County jail. His bond was set at $500,000 on the drive-by shooting. No bond was set on the aggravated assault charge.
On Monday, police were called to the 13000 block of Dedeaux Road about 4 p.m. in regard to a shooting.
Officers found shell casings in the parking lot and spoke with witnesses. It was determined that the victim and three suspects—identified as Weems, Keyes, and Kaleb Zaches Anderson — had argued.
After buying items, the victim left the store, and the suspects allegedly tried to assault him.
The victim entered his vehicle and began leaving the parking lot when Keyes allegedly pointed a firearm at him. Keyes fired the weapon multiple times, hitting the victim’s vehicle as he fled.
After the initial shots, the suspects got into their vehicle and pursued the victim to the 13100 block of Dedeaux Road, where they continued firing before fleeing the area, police said.
Anderson is also wanted for one count of drive-by shooting. He is described as a 22-year-old black male, approximately 5’6″ and 165 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes. He is considered armed and dangerous.
