Second annual Walk against Human Trafficking takes place tonight in Ocean Springs

Advocates for Freedom and students at Ocean Springs High are hosting the second annual Walk against Human Trafficking tonight.

Earlier today, students in the Ocean Springs High IB, international baccalaureate, were getting ready for the event at Greyhound Stadium on Bienville Boulevard.

The walk starts at 6 tonight and there will be music, special guest speakers, and a candlelight walk around the Greyhound track.

Senior Kennedy Jones participated in last year’s march and considered it an eye-opening experience.

She says until she worked alongside Advocates for Freedom, she didn’t know how prominent human trafficking is in our area considering I-10 is a major human trafficking corridor. “It’s beautiful to see people care about other people and not just themselves. When you’re here it really does feel like you’re part of a bigger event and making a difference.”

The event will be discussing a sensitive topic in a manner that is appropriate for the whole family.

The founder of Advocates for Freedom stresses the sooner we teach our children about human trafficking the more than can learn how best to protect themselves.
