Second Annual Prom Dress Giveaway
Over 50 lucky ladies across the Coast will wear the prom dress of their dreams for free this year.
It’s all thanks to the Pink Lotus Project. For the second year in a row, the nonprofit organization has picked 50 high school junior and senior girls and will give them a dress for free tomorrow. The girls will also attend a brief workshop covering various topics such as financial aid for college.
Volunteer Jocelyn Lane tells News 25 the look on these girls faces when they find their prom dress is priceless. “It’s beautiful. It’s a wonderful experience for the girls. I think most of the volunteers were a little bit more excited than the girls were to get the dresses but it’s a wonderful experience. We want to give back to them and give them an opportunity to have a wonderful night at prom.”
The dresses will be given away at the Dr. Frank Gruich Community Center in Biloxi tomorrow from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Before the girls can take their dresses they must go through a self -defense, financial aid, social media and alternative things to do on prom night seminar.
