Second Annual Geekonomicon

If you’re a self-proclaimed geek, this weekend is your chance to shine.
Die-hard fans of comics, gaming, anime, cosplay and more are taking over the Coast Convention Center for the second annual Geekonomicon. The convention has a little something for everyone.
Bruce Carr, who’s not your ordinary balloon man, makes his living at conventions like this. This year, he’s created a queen alien costume, from the “Alien” movies, made mostly out of black balloons. Carr was diagnosed with a form of autism called Asperger’s but doesn’t let that stop him from inspiring others. He tells News 25 he’s found his home within the Geekonomicon community. “Anybody who is out there who has any kind of disorder or even people saying that you cannot do something because they say that you don’t have the right kind of skills required for it, yes you can. You just have to have the true inspiration to be able to do so and you have to be able to constantly work at it,” said Carr.
Geekonomicon will last until Sunday. Admission can be purchased at the door and all ages are welcome.
