Second Amendment Tax Free Holiday begins Friday

Outdoor enthusiasts can begin taking advantage of Mississippi’s Second Amendment Tax Free Weekend starting tomorrow.

This tax-free benefit allows for customers to stock up on everything they need to be field ready such as archery equipment, firearm and archery cases, firearm and archery accessories, hearing protection, holsters, belts, and slings.

The sale of general hunting supplies is not exempt. Academy Sports and Outdoors Hard Goods Manager Eva Stockstill said, “We have many outdoor enthusiasts that come through our store. So, I think it’s going to be a great opportunity and a great service for our customers. It should be a really good turnout now that hunting season is about to kick off. Even with COVID going on, I do believe that it’s a great time for people to be outdoors.”

The Mississippi legislature created the Second Amendment Sales Tax Free Holiday in 2014.
