Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday Weekend
With Labor Day Weekend in full swing, shoppers locally and across the state had the chance to take advantage of a sales tax holiday.
Mississippi’s Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday kicked off on Friday and ended on Sunday. Guns, ammunition, and select accessories including archery equipment were exempt from the state’s sales tax.
Store Director Mark Green of Academy in Gulfport says with various hunting seasons approaching, the weekend was a good time to save on equipment. “We have a lot of outdoor enthusiasts down here on the Coast and in South Mississippi and this fits right into their profile.”
The Sales Tax Holiday was passed during the 2014 State Legislative Session.
